to take the lead in revolutionizing our US Casualty insurance offerings, both on a product and strategic front. Below is an enhanced job description tailored to reflect this mission and the unique qualities of Relm.What You Will Do:Direct the US underwriting strategy, process, planning, reporting, forecasting, business development and innovation for the Casualty insurance book of businessUnderwrite, price, and negotiate risks in a manner that is consistent with Relm’s risk appetite to ensure profitability, retention, and written premium goals are achievedProvide a professional layer of leadership, mentorship, and management to the US Casualty underwriting team, fostering a high-performance culture, and promoting continued growth, training and development of junior underwriting and administrative staffNegotiate, prepare, and draft policy and endorsement wordingCreate and develop relationships with brokers and policyholders to establish new distribution relationships and sales channelsAttend and occasionally present at industry conferences, as needed and as the opportunity presents itselfCollaborate with colleagues to achieve company goals and drive cross-sell opportunitiesAssist with strategic underwriting planning by developing and maintaining suitable management information to effectively evaluate the portfolioMaintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting and regulatory guidelines, standards, and legal requirementsEngage in ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned to contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of RelmRequirementsMinimum of 8 years of US Casualty insurance underwriting and/or broking experienceA bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in business, finance, insurance, actuarial science, computer science, or a related disciplineRobust relationships with US wholesale and retail brokersPerceived as a thought leader within the US Casualty insurance marketExperience with policy and endorsement wording negotiation, preparation, and draftingExceptional organizational and time management skillsSuperb leadership qualities with the capability to build comradery in a global teamCreative problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills, an ethical approach to getting things done, and an ability to apply different perspectives across the spectrumAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environmentA confident communicator who can clearly and authentically convey a written and verbal message, skillfully persuade, and craft a constructive argumentAdvanced skills across all Microsoft Office applications (familiarity with Mac OS is a plus)Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort with leading client and broker meetingsExceptional attention to detail and work ethic, setting an example for othersAbility to work outside of core hours and travel overseas, as requiredNice To Have Qualifications, Skills and Experience:Experience managing and underwriting a predominately primary book of businessThe ability to perform data analytics within MS Excel or Power BI, including functions such as Tables, Pivot Tables, formulae (VLOOKUP, IF, SUM) etc.Professional designation in insurance underwriting, such as RPLU, CPCU, ACII, AU, or similarStrong interest and conceptual comprehension in Web3., Digital Assets, Blockchain, Cannabis, AI, or Financial Markets will be a differentiatorBenefitsA comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability, all paid at 100% for employees.Up to 5% of salary 401(k) employer matchCompetitive compensationTraining and mentorship opportunitiesEducational stipendAn environment where you opinion is not only heard but crucial to our teams’ successA multitude of growth
