Our client is seeking a
Lead Reinsurance Accountant
to join their U.S. headquarters in Chicago. In this role, the
Lead Reinsurance Accountant
will be instrumental in managing the financial reporting for their rapidly expanding global operations. The position will focus on regulatory compliance, specifically handling Yellow Book and Schedule F reporting, while driving efficiency in reinsurance accounting processes. This is a key opportunity to work with a high-growth company that has established a strong international presence, contributing to both the day-to-day accounting functions and the continued success of the business.
Lead Reinsurance Accountant Responsibilities:Oversee and prepare reinsurance accounting reports, including Yellow Book and Schedule F filingsEnsure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for reinsurance operationsCollaborate with global finance teams to support reinsurance financial reporting and analysisLead the month-end close process for reinsurance transactions, ensuring accuracy and timelinessIdentify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency in reinsurance reportingAnalyze and reconcile reinsurance accounts, premiums and claimsProvide support for internal and external audits related to reinsurance activities
Lead Reinsurance Accountant Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required5+ years of reinsurance accounting experience, with a strong focus on Yellow Book or Schedule F reportingProficiency in Excel with advanced skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros)Strong attention to detail and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, global environmentCPA or similar certification is a plus but not required
