ResponsibilitiesMAJOR DUTIES 1. Serves as physician in the Inpatient Medical Service. Performs highly responsible duties in the advanced examination, diagnosis, and treatment of inpatients admitted to the Inpatient Medical Service, based on the level of professional ability, Examines and conducts thorough studies of patients presenting medical management problems. Evaluates laboratory and clinical findings, differentiating among the various contributory causes, and prescribes appropriate treatment. Follows through on cases to insure effectiveness and alters course of treatment as indicated. Collaborates with specialists in other areas on cases involving interrelated problems. Serves as the attending physician and admits to ICU/SCU, General Medicine Ward. Patients include all age ranges from 18 year-old young adults to geriatric. Incumbent needs experience in ICU medicine to include advanced access techniques, invasive diagnostic procedures such as paracentesis and thoracentesis. The Hospitalist would work closely with EACH primary care providers, military consultants and civilian consultants in the local community. Directs and supervises mid-level medical care providers, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners assigned to the Inpatient Medical Services.2. Provides general administrative supervision to assigned personnel. Plans, schedules, assigns, and directs the work of others; establishes work priorities and deadlines; explains work requirements, methods and procedures as needed; reviews work upon completion.Performs other duties as assigned.
