The Accounting Intern will provide support to one of the following departments within Continental's Accounting/Finance areas: Treasury/Planning; Property Accounting; Joint Interest; Audit; Revenue and Material Control.

Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to working on a summer project, the Accounting intern will apply basic financial concepts and accounting principles to include but not limited to:

Process monthly data including inputting, coding, scanning, copying and distributing of reports & informationPreparation of journal entries with all applicable backup documentation and proposed accounts & cost centersCompile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accountsAnalyze and account for all payments for oil and gas sales from operated and non-operated properties;Analyze Joint Interest billings for compliance with Joint Operating Agreements and industry guidelinesAnalyze and account for purchases of services, equipment, and materials used in drilling, completing and producing oil wells.Research, analyze and resolve disputes with third party working interest owners, operators and vendorsSkills and Competencies

Excellent analytical, verbal and written communicationProficient with Microsoft OfficeStrong customer focus and a team playerEffective time managementRequired Qualifications

Current enrollment in 4 year college or university;Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance;Professional appearance and demeanor; andEligible to work permanently in the United States upon graduationAn acceptable pre-employment background and drug testPreferred Qualifications

Minimum 3.0 GPAPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
