Role
Reporting to the Division Manager, the Test Technician is responsible to commission and test primary and secondary power equipment in the field which includes maintaining medium to high-voltage substation power delivery equipment such as breakers, switchgears, circuit breakers, relays and transformers. The Test Technician is also responsible to mentor and educate Apprentices including reading and interpreting blueprints, Risk Management and industry best practices. They also play a leading role in setting up and operating standard as well as specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of power delivery equipment on the job site.
ResponsibilitiesWork safely alongside all members of the construction crewAcceptance and maintenance testing of 600v to 500kV electrical equipmentInstallation, commissioning and maintenance of protection and control equipment, SCADA in medium to high-voltage transmission substations such as differential, distance, line protections, transformer protections, overcurrent, etc.Interpret prints, analyze test reports and recommend corrective actions.Work with high voltage equipment such as Circuit breakers, transformers, switches and control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systemsSupervise, mentor and train junior techniciansBe able to work with various types of manufacturer's test equipment:Omicron, CMC, CT Analyzer, Cibano, CPC100Doble M4000, SFRAMEGGER, Insulation resistanceDuctor, micrometerDilo SF6 Tester$66 - $79 a hourA reasonable estimate of the pay range is $66 - $79 USD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.

Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution or Degree in Electrical EngineeringMinimum of 4+ years of experience in Field Testing and CommissioningExperience in substations required (ex. 600v to 500kV)Experience with relay testing with various equipment an softwareFamiliar with power transformers, high voltage switches, breakers, CT's and PT's, NGR, and CapbankPast experience with testing software will be beneficial (Omicron Test Universe, Doble M4000, AcSELerator, Seimens Digsi, Enervista)Competent and comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite.Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace.Must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5 driver's license.Willing to work out of town and on rotationBenefits
