The role of the CNC Machinist III is to use advanced machining techniques and processes to produce accurate and quality parts. This position has attained full proficiency as a CNC Machinist II and can successfully execute machining and programming strategies for multifaceted jobs with minimal technical assistance. This position acts as a mentor to less experienced CNC department personnel, sharing guidance and knowledge of machining procedures. The ability to organize multiple projects and apply high level critical thinking skills is crucial for success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Independently perform the highest level of complex machining and programming activities in line with company capabilitiesBe sought out to provide training and/or solutions to less experienced machinistsDesign custom fixtures for production useApply lathe concepts to machine parts more efficientlyApply basic true 5th axis machining conceptsAssist in researching and evaluating new equipment and techniques for departmental enhancementsCollaborate with Project Managers on project scope, time, and costs for quoting purposesPerform essential functions of Machinist IIOther duties as assignedTECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Proficient knowledge of 2D and 3D programming and multi axis (3+1 and/or 3+2 indexing) machiningAdvanced knowledge of Lathe concepts including live tooling and dual spindle operationsProficient knowledge of complex fixturing techniquesProficient knowledge of print reading, high tolerance machining and geometric dimensioningProficient knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurementProficient knowledge of material propertiesProficient knowledge of commonly used hand and power toolsBasic computer literacy, including Fusion 360 or related CAM software

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma required2-year Machining Degree preferred5 years' experience with Sac EDM or 7+ years of relevant machining experience (programming, setup, and running equipment) in a related industry

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various sizeAbility to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shiftAbility to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday, occasionally 50+lbs with a team liftAbility to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus

Fast-paced environmentNoise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by requestExposure to fumes and/or airborne particlesMoving mechanical parts and vibrationsExposure to hot metal and machining componentsExposure to various types of coolants and oils

WORK HOURS:

1st Shift Work Schedule: 5 - 8-hour shiftsOvertime as necessaryFlexible scheduling in agreement with supervisor
