JOB SUMMARY

The Tool Maker will review specifications on blueprints to determine materials required and equipment necessary to fabricate tooling for use in the cold heading manufacturing. Will use precision measuring devices to ensure quality and verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of work done.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDesign, build, and maintain tools, dies and jogs for cold heading and thread rolling operation using machine tools such as lathes, mills and grindersAssemble jib kits, gages, jigs, and other necessary equipment to support manufacturing operationsOperate and maintain all tool room equipment, including lathes, mills, surface grinders and other machineryUnderstand and utilize inventory controls to maintain accurate tool inventoryA minimum of 2 years' experience as a Tool and Die Maker, with a focus on cold heading and thread rolling operationsHave ability to read and interpret blueprintsBe able to work with engineering and production to solve daily issuesStrong attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficientlyGood problem-solving skills and ability to work independentlySKILLS and ABILITIES

Knowledge of OSHA requirements to include Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, and Authorized Lockout/Tagout ProceduresStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong math and mechanical reasoning skillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsUnderstanding and compliance with safety rules and regulationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsEDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent requiredTrade school apprenticeship experience preferred.Minimum 2 years' experience making tooling for the cold heading manufacturing process is required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and anything over requires help and/or handling equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Good close vision and depth perception skills and must be able to stand for shift durations.
