You will play a significant role across accounting, audit, tax, and oversee AP/AR function and procurement processes for a high growth marketplace startup. You will serve as a trusted partner to the Head of Finance and Operations, and have the opportunity to gain exposure to other elements of the business over time.

Key responsibilities include:Manage monthly close process, including reconciliations and consolidation, and prepare statements, schedules, and supporting documentationPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including management reports required for internal reporting purposesIdentify and implement process improvements and automation to reduce time to close and improve accuracy of underlying accounting recordsAssist in creation and maintenance of internal controls and policiesPerform technical accounting research and prepare memos to support positionManage the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit schedulesCoordinate and manage tax filings and compliance in the US and abroadImplement automation of accounting processes and assist with special projectsYour first 90 days will look like the following:

Within 30 days,

you will fully understand the accounting for our business, including the month-end close process, the different components of our financial statements, and the key priorities and roadmap for the accounting functionWithin 60 days,

you will be leading month-end close (in conjunction with our 3rd party bookkeepers) and interacting closely with auditors for our 2023 financial auditWithin 90 days,

you will have migrated accounting in-house and identified and executed on process improvements, internal controls, and automation / real time cost reportingWho you are

You are someone who loves finance and numbers. You have experience at a Big 4 audit firm, along with in-house accounting experience at a technology startup. You have experience taking accounting in-house, built and improved internal processes, and worked with auditors to meet annual audit requirements. You have experience with technology-enabled business models and how they translate into accounting concepts and other implications for tax and compliance.

You understand what "best-in-class" for an accounting function looks like, and have the ambition to execute toward that. You understand how to find and remediate gaps, improve processes, write documentation, and make our reporting airtight.

You have extraordinary attention to detail, the capacity to work under ambiguity, and the ability to execute with strong judgment. You are a clear and excellent communicator, both verbal and written. You can easily translate technical concepts into layman's terms for a broader audience.
