The Role The Senior Vice President, Operations Manager will provide executive leadership and strategic direction to the operations team, ensuring alignment with the companys vision and goals. This role requires a senior leader with deep expertise in the construction management industry, a proven track record of successful preconstruction and project delivery, and strong financial acumen. The SVP, Operations Manager will work closely with senior leadership to drive business growth, operational excellence, and sector leadership. Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Executive Vice President and other senior leaders to set the strategic direction and business objectives for Commercial projects. Oversee the development and execution of operational strategies to ensure alignment with corporate vision and goals. Serve as the regional market expert, providing sector expertise and driving market growth. Work Acquisition and Client Management:
Actively build Suffolks regional network of relationships with developers, partners, and community leaders? Working at the direction of the Regional GM, utilize industry contacts and relationships to generate appropriate project leads and follow through to acquisition as ? ? Identify and develop new business opportunities consistent with Regional and Corporate ? Support GM in strategic subcontractor management? Actively participate in industry events and associations? Assign appropriate staff to preconstruction assignments (PX and/or VP of Operations) ? Review and approve preconstruction agreements? Direct the strategy and content of the RFP response process including editing for project-specific content, and interview preparation and participation as ? Participate in Contract negotiation as ? Partner with GM to establish financial performance goals for the Region and implement strategies to achieve goals. Monitor weekly financial reports for compliance with Company standards and objectives
Financial Management:
Establish financial performance goals for projects and implement strategies to achieve these goals. Review and analyze weekly financial reports, providing guidance and direction to project teams. Oversee monthly financial forecasts and ensure progress against financial plans. Monitor project cash flow and ensure financial targets are met. Oversee monthly requisitioning processes.
Development of People: Recruit and hire key operational staff, ensuring the team has the skills and expertise to achieve business objectives. Evaluate team performance, providing direction, constructive feedback, and career development opportunities. Mentor future leaders and support training and curriculum development. Monitor and evaluate Project Executive and VP staff assignments. ? Mentor, train, and coach VPs and Project Executives. Evaluate performance and create growth opportunities consistent with their individual development plans ? Assist in sourcing and screening of PX and VP candidates ? Mentor, coach, and train them to perform and ensure effective matching of talent to project scope.? ?? Play an active role in the recruitment of key operations roles? Visible and active leadership at company meetings, topping-off parties, groundbreakings, conferences, and sponsorships. Preconstruction: Oversee preconstruction efforts on assigned projects, supporting the President and preconstruction services leader. Collaborate with preconstruction cost estimators to develop accurate project GMPs. Write or approve detailed scope of work descriptions for subcontractors. Construction Operations: Ensure all construction activities adhere to the companys Standard Operating Procedures. Conduct weekly meetings with Project Executives and teams to review overall job performance. Develop project execution plans, including baseline schedules, utilizing scheduling and Lean planning resources. Review schedule updates and participate in monthly update meetings. Review monthly KPIs, evaluate trends, and drive continuous improvement. Set appropriate project milestones and assign staff qualified to handle the scope and complexity of the project.? ? Partner with regional functional leaders to ensure operational excellence, acting as Regional Champion for Corporate initiatives.? Ensure all PXs and VPs understand, support and drive compliance with Suffolks standard operating procedure? Champion the Regional Safety effort, driving a Safety culture throughout the Region.? Ensure Crisis Management planning is in place and understood.? Develop feedback loops to allow for the sharing of information throughout the Region. Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 15 years of experience in the construction management industry, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record of successful project delivery and financial management in large-scale construction projects. Strong expertise in construction operations, preconstruction, and client management. Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management software, financial analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to travel as required to support business needs.
