As a Dental Assistant you will be responsible to provide a range of clinical procedures and staff support in a full range of dental operational services. The Dental Assistant will assist in the performance of dental and radiological procedures.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists the dentist using four-handed-dentistry. Assist the dentist with patient management to include: instrument transfer, isolation, oral evacuation, retraction, and preparation of dental instruments and materials to include mixing filling and impression materials; charting examination and treatment results on patient's dental records.Maintains autoclave, ultrasonic and other equipment as necessary. Maintains appropriate logs in accordance with maintenance.Ensures monitoring logs for all infection control items are correctly completed. Maintains log of lab cases and reviews as needed.Prepares, sterilizes, organizes and set-up dental operatory and instruments according to Dental Department OSHA manual guidelines.At initial seating, ensures vital signs and medical history is reviewed and documented. Instructs the patient on oral hygiene, nutritional counseling and post-operative instructions, as needed. Must have Radiology, Infection Control and Jurisprudence certification. CPR Certified.Experience: One year dental assisting experience in a dental office preferred.Other : Bilingual Spanish, Four handed dental assisting skills, Nitrous Oxide Exam Certification preferred, Holds and maintains proper level of professional standards (licensing, CPR, radiology, etc.) necessary to ensure credentialing compliance for dental coverage under the Federal Torts Claims Act.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such a typing or picking up small objects.Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands and fingers.Physical: Standing/walking most of the time. May have to life folders, files, papers, audio/video equipment, and other such items weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally
