Desired Experience:

SUMMARY: Responsible for performing proper specimen collection mostly bloods specimens. Responsible for sample processing, reference sample processing and inventory of drawing station supplies. May perform clerical duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrates the ability to accurately and precisely follow established office and laboratory procedures.Organizes work so that patient specimen is drawn with a minimum of patient waiting time.Performs blood collection duties in a timely manner to ensure availability of test results.Give appropriate instructions to the patients and performs other specimen collection as requested by physicianAppropriately labels all patient specimens with patient name, chart number, requesting physician's name, date and time specimen collected, and the name of test required.Delivers and/or processes specimens in a timely manner (i.e. centrifuges, prepares specimen and paperwork for reference laboratory courier, aliquots and refrigerates for later batch testing, or immediately notifies appropriate testing personnel of STAT requests, etc)Collects blood samples in appropriate tubes.Assists nursing personnel in the collection of specimens if needed.Receives phone calls from nurses, doctors, and reference laboratories.Inventories and orders supplies.Demonstrates, at all times, in dealing with the public a positive image of the clinic as a caring and concerned organization.Respects the confidentiality of patient records and uses discretion with discussing patient results/matters.Demonstrates the ability to deal with priorities in an appropriate manner.Performs work within the established laboratory safety and infection control policies and procedures, practices, infection control and chemical hazard procedures for protection of self, patients, and clinic personnel.Must have predictable and consistent attendanceSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalentPhlebotomy Training (Diploma or Certificate) and/or successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or equivalent training and experience1 Year of phlebotomy experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESCapable of performing the procedures required providing proper patients care.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSNone required, but Certification in Phlebotomy is preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
