**Lead Lifeguard**1401 Ballentine Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23504, USA Req #19050 Monday, February 7, 2022 The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Lead Lifeguard in the Hampton Roads Area Command Kroc Center.POSITION SUMMARYPlans, develops and oversees the activities of the aquatics program as well as the supervision of the aquatics staff, ensuring that the mission of The Salvation Army is a top priority in all areas and activities. Performs any necessary administrative duties. Ensures that the aquatic operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Aquatic Lifeguard is an hourly position, which may be designed full-time, part-time, or as needed. Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager, the Lifeguard observes swimmers, protects life, prevents accidents, enforces regulations, and does related work as required. Duties will also include working closely with the Aquatics Manager in developing programs for the Kroc Center based upon ongoing needs assessment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:High School diploma or GEDLicense/Certification:Current certificates in American Red Cross First Aid or First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title22), CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro), American Red Cross Water Safety certification and Lifeguard Training. Equivalent training certificates may be accepted.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department's administration.Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.Ability to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.Ability to plan and complete work in a manner to ensure compliance with deadlines.Meet and deal tactfully and effectively with the public; work cooperatively with others; analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; and maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs.Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the centers swimming pools.Have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of the Center and The Salvation Army.Mental and Physical AbilitiesAbility to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to motivate a spirit of unity, loyalty, and helpfulness within and among staff.Ability to plan work priorities, evaluate work performances and provide recommendations for improving productivity and efficiency of work.Maintain a variety of internal and external contacts and work cooperatively with superior and subordinate staff.Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.Must be at least 16 years of age.Must have the ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
