Overview:
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality assurance team. As part of this team, you will perform incoming, in-process and final inspection of composite materials and parts for a VTOL electric aircraft. The inspection process will help baseline the companys hardware design efforts and pave the way to production ready hardware. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are looking to expand this team with like-minded individuals looking to make a mark in the transportation industry.
Responsibilities:Participate in the development of the quality inspection systemPerform incoming inspection on supplied composite materialPerform in-process inspection during the layup process for composite materialPerform final inspection on completed composite partsPerform final inspection on the completed Work Order paperwork packagePerform adhoc part and process inspectionsRequired:
A high-school diploma or GED and minimum of 2 year's experience in composite inspection or fabrication and mechanical inspectionMust know basic quality terms, definitions and conceptsMust understand types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scalesMust know the difference between accuracy and precision and be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniquesMust know how to measure using surface plate layouts and other hand tools such as calipers, and micrometersMust be able to identify/recognize inspection errors/nonconformances and initiate corrective actionMust have basic calibration knowledgeMust be able to read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major and minor characteristicsMust be able to use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size for lots; pull random samplesUnderstand different testing methodsUnderstand traceability (product, material and calibration)Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and secondsAbility to work in a team environmentDesired:
2+ years of on-the-job aerospace experienceGeneral knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and understanding of the x, y, z coordinate systemBasic knowledge of statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data and how to recognize out-of-control conditionsBasic knowledge of plan-do-check-act (PDCA)ASQ Certified Quality Inspector CertificateCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $26-$32/hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
