Inspects and oversees Contractors' work of specific crafts performed for the construction of pipelines and facilities to
ensure that procedures and materials comply with contract specifications, codes, and industry standards. Various. Inspections are generally limited to a specific area or task. Documents construction inspections, Contractor's efforts, and materials
used on the project. Records and notifies Chief Inspector of deviations from construction specifications, drawings,
permits, and governing regulations. Evaluates premises for safety, participating in daily tailgate meetings and enforcing company safety programs. Verifies craft discipline work is performed in compliance to specifications, plans, and codes. Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications. Prepares
samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing. Examines quality of finished installations for conformity to
standards and approves installation. Interprets plans and specifications for construction contractor and discusses
deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods noting deviations or exceptions to the
specifications, drawings, permits, or governing regulations. Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities
and compares progress reports. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from drawings.
Requirements
Experience
Required/Preferred
Required: 5 years oil and gas construction inspection or other related experience
Preferred: 8 years oil and gas construction inspection or other related experience
Licensing/Certification
Required/Preferred
Required: AWS CWI, API 1169 certification, Knowledge of the following codes and standards: a) ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section
IX - Welding and Brazing Qualifications.
b) API 1104 - Welding of Pipelines and Related
Facilities.
c) AWS D1.1 - Structural Welding Code - Steel.
d) ASME B31 Series.
3) Three years of progressively responsible work
experience in:
a) Visual inspection of welded joints.
b) Destructive and nondestructive test methods,
procedures, and equipment.
c) Identification and evaluation of weld
discontinuities.
d) Welding processes, procedures, inspection
methods, and the use of welding equipment.
e) Design drawings, pipe and fitting specifications,
welding filler metals, and pipeline or related facility
construction standards.
Preferred: OSHA 10-Hour Card for construction (1926)
