You should have previous experience with press machine operation, whether through steel manufacturing or sheet metal work. Starting wage will be dependent on experience level. Job Function: Performs any combination of tasks to set up and operate most types of sheet metal machines including Amada/Accurpress, S-4, P-4, corner former and Apron brake to shear, punch and form metal or other stock. Skills to look at a print and the parts for that print, decide what the best tooling would be to bend that part. Sometimes this involves picking the right machine to use as well. Assembles, aligns, and installs tooling to specifications using feelers, shims, templates, or other items as required by each part. Adjusts or programs machines for each item in accordance with shop routing and mechanical drawings. Qualifications: High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Degree or certificate from a vocational school and/or three years of experience. Ability to read blueprints and use a caliper to measure dimensions. Experience working with press brake, and sheet metal fabrication machines with ability to set up and operate.
