The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research institute adjacent to the campus of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) located in Oklahoma City. Founded in 1946, OMRF is among the nations oldest, most respected independent, nonprofit biomedical research institutes. The OMRF houses two clinics, the MS Center of Excellence and the Rheumatology Center of Excellence. Physicians in OMRFs patient clinics are world leaders in understanding and treating lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases. The clinics at OMRF offer the highest levels of patient care. Patients in OMRFs clinics are also offered the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and cutting-edge research studies. OMRF investigators have internationally recognized expertise in Autoimmunity, Immunology, Genetics, Aging, Cardiovascular Disease, and Cancer. Our Autoimmune Disease Institute houses Centers of Excellence and specialty research clinics for Rheumatic Diseases (focusing on Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, UCTD, and Sjogren's) and for Multiple Sclerosis and related diseases. In addition to following over 4,000 patients with these conditions, teams of basic and clinical investigators conduct extensive clinical, translational and mechanistic research using samples obtained from these large clinical programs. OMRF is dedicated to understanding and developing more effective treatments for human diseases, focusing on critical research areas such as Alzheimers disease, cancer, lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, and cardiovascular disease. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, color, national origin, age, religion, disability, veteran status or any other legally protected characteristic.Responsibilities:Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation is looking for a Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant that will be responsible for the following tasks:Collecting blood, urine, and other samplesObtaining and understanding specimen and test informationDocumenting physician orders as requiredRetrieving orders, requisitions, and labels from EMR for accurate collection and labeling of specimensProcessing samples by centrifugation, pipetting, aliquoting, and slide preparation as required by receiving clinical and research laboratoriesPreparing specimens for transport to labPerforming POC testing for CLIA-waived testsMaintaining accurate records, documents and files as required for both clinical and research databasesProviding patient results to physician offices, as necessaryFielding patient phone calls and messages and liaise between patients, providers, and other patient care facilitiesAssisting with clerical duties such as answering phones, preparing charts, charge entry, assessing and verifying patient test requests and billing informationObtaining vital signs, weight checks and general patient-comfort needsRecording medications, allergies, and other medical historyRefilling medications, obtain prior authorizations, scan and copy medical records, route referrals, and perform other patient care management tasks as assignedTransporting patients and assisting staff with moving patients with wheelchairsRestocking rooms and supply areas as neededPerforming other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED or completed a Phlebotomy Program Experience. Previous experience as a phlebotomist.Work Hours:Typically, Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. However, hours may vary with advanced notice depending on work load and need for office coverage.
