GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for building long-term, mutually beneficial, and highly engaged relationships with existing and potential members. This includes but is not limited to relationships with Select Employer Groups (SEGs), community organizations and other strategic partnerships.The Business Development Manager, working in tandem with the Retail team, drives organic growth and SEG penetration, identifies and pursues strategic partnerships and sponsorships to enhance the Credit Union's visibility, brand awareness and/or membership growth within target communities.NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:This position works with a minimal amount of supervision and direction and is authorized to take all reasonable actions necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities of the position, provided such are cost-effective and consistent with Credit Union policies, procedures, and Core Values.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Business Development Manager has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to manage business development activities and projects and may oversee the work of others who are assigned to business development activities and projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in managing and implementing the annual business development and involvement plan.Drive Business Development efforts by creating interest and engaging key contacts of existing Select Employer Groups, community organizations and strategic partners to increase membership levels and member engagement.Build, develop, and maintain successful SEG, community and strategic partner relationships including interaction with businesses at all levels, to ensure the Credit Union's presence and recognition within the community in which it operates.Be a subject matter expert in Credit Union products and services to effectively and confidently cross-sell accounts and memberships.Manage and coordinate orientations, on-site visits, and activities for SEGs and sponsor groups, and actively participate in industry and trade organizations.Ensure a consistent message and participate in community and business functions/groups to enhance the overall image of the Credit Union and to promote the Credit Union movement.Assist in developing, implementing, and measuring new and unique membership campaigns and initiatives to attract new members. Monitor and provide feedback to Manager on campaign effectiveness, reflecting key issues for member groups and employees and enhancing Credit Union profile.Partner with Retail, Lending, Insurance and Wealth Management to assist with local business development efforts as well as gain staffing support to assist with business development activities.Provides weekly reports and tracking on SEG activities and membership levels, depth of membership and results.Regularly review all membership development activities, meetings, events, and objectives.Research, prospect and present potential SEGs and other strategic partnerships.All other responsibilities or duties as assigned to ensure workload coverage, which may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs other duties including special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of financial services industry overall, and the unique features and benefits of credit unions.Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products and services as well as member access/delivery channels.Ability to provide effective leadership and guidance to staff.Strategic, results-oriented and innovative thinker.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, across departments and position levels.Must have strong organization skills, ability to present information effectively, ability to negotiate and persuade, management skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills.Ability to work cooperatively and as a self-starter, taking ownership of projects and seeing them through to successful completion.Superior customer focus and ability to maintain positive member and community relationships.Computer proficiency in all Microsoft components (Word, Excel, Power Point required), with ability to create superior presentation materials with Word, Excel & PowerPoint.Education, Training and ExperiencePotential candidates for this position preferably meet the following requirements:Bachelor's degreeMinimum of ten years related experience, preferably in a financial institution or large, highly regulated organization.One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required educationWORKING CONDITIONS:
The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.The job may require flexibility with regards to scheduling days, hours, and work location, depending on business needs.The job is typically sedentary but may require standing and walking up to 35% of the work time to transfer files, ask questions, and related activities.PHYSICAL ABILITIES, MENTAL DEMANDS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to exercise sound judgment, effectively plan and be well organized, have excellent oral and written communications skills, work well under changing timelines, take the initiative and be flexible and cooperative. Accuracy, timeliness and maintaining confidentiality related to member, employee information and company records is required.While performing the job duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift minimum 10 lbs.The employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus to read and operate office equipment, as necessary. The employee works under typical office conditions and noise levels.
