Job Overview

Barings is seeking a Securitized Credit Analyst to cover Private & Public Consumer ABS, including, but not limited to, auto loans, credit card receivables, unsecured personal consumer loans, timeshare, solar, PACE and student loans (FFELP and private). The candidate will work closely with the Barings Asset-Based Finance team members across origination, structuring, research, trading, capital markets, portfolio management, legal and compliance to identify and execute attractive risk-adjusted investments. Prior structured finance experience and a strong credit research background are required. The position will reside in our Charlotte, NC office and report to the Head of Consumer ABS & CMBS.

Primary Responsibilities

Originate, structure, and execute private asset-backed transactions across various formats (forward flow transactions, whole loan and portfolio purchases, warehouse financing and securitizations)Facilitate relationships with target originators and intermediaries to provide a consistent pipeline of suitable investment opportunitiesPerform due diligence, including sector and market research, onsite evaluation, analytical risk-based modeling and asset valuation work, assessment of legal, regulatory compliance and other risksManage the rating agency process and dialogue to obtain rating agency assessments (private letter, private rating or public rating)Negotiate business terms and oversee transaction documentationUnderwrite investments in public securitized markets across the capital structure (senior, mezzanine tranches and residuals) by performing comprehensive credit analysis on the industry, sponsor/originator/servicer, asset valuation, cashflows, structure, loss and prepayment modelling and stress testingPrepare investment memos and present investment recommendations to the Investment CommitteeMaintain existing counterparty relationships, collaborate with clients & partners to identify capital needs and provide customized capital solutionsConduct surveillance and monitor existing exposures and credit performance, spearhead modifications where applicable, contribute to refining risk management and oversight toolsExpand Barings' depth of coverage and provide thought leadership for consumer assets via periodic written and verbal communication (monthly reporting, industry reviews, external publications, conferences, etc.)Liaise with internal support groups and external service providersAbility and willingness to travelQualifications

BA/BS in mathematics, computer science, finance, economics or a related field; advanced degree and professional designations preferred5+ years of structured finance experience, including a track record of successful deal executionStrong network of contacts across the structured finance ecosystem (originators, servicers, brokers, lawyers, banks, non-bank lenders, third party appraisers, etc.)Excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and strong work ethicStrong written and oral communication skills with ability to target messaging across multiple levels of a diverse organizationExperience with various analytical platforms (Intex, Aladdin, Bloomberg, etc)Experience with programming languages and database management a plusBarings is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer; Minority/Female/Age/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Individual with Disability/Protected Veteran.
