Position : Production Chemist I
Location : San Diego, CA
Duration : 1 Year Contract
Start Time : 08:00 AM
End Time : 05:00 PM
Total Hours/week : 42.50( Mon- Fri)
Qualifications:
Successful candidate will possess a B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Life Science, minimum of 1 year relevant industry experience preferred. Assets
Familiarity with operation of routine laboratory instruments and applicable software.
Familiarity of the use of a glove box/dry box
Familiarity with lyophilization and purification
Experience of operation of rotary evaporator preferred
Documentation in lab notebooks, batch records, and various databases
Works well in a team based environment
Multi-task to cover a variety of job functions
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Familiarity with guidelines such as good manufacturing processes and ISO standards
Works well in a team based environment and independently • Solid MS Office Knowledge, Intermediate to Advanced Excel usage preferred.
Responsibilities:
May perform synthesis of conjugated polymers using established procedures.
Perform established reactions to convert/activate functional groups on final polymers.
Perform a variety of polymer processing, purification and characterization steps to support the production of commercial dyes.
Purify aqueous polymers using common biochemistry techniques (filtration, SEC, etc.) Remove solvent via rotary evaporation and/or lyophilization
Characterize polymer size by GPC/SEC chromatography using established standard processes
Perform small scale dye labeling reactions according to established standard processes. Perform Aliquoting/Vialing/Weight Checks/Packaging of air and water sensitive finished goods using manual and automated processes and equipment Prepare packaged products for QA inspection and shipments, including all required documentation
Manage physical inventory within a glove box for raw materials, intermediate products, finished goods, analytical samples, and QA Retains. Support accurate inventory management of these materials through cycle counts, database management, bar code labeling, etc.
Documentation in lab notebooks, batch records and basic databases
Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by reporting manager.
