Description

The plastic extrusion machine senior operator will report to the Production Manager and is responsible for supervising extruder employees and ensuring that the production timelines are met while inspecting materials and products to verify conformance with quality standards. Senior Operators have build their skills and knowledge over time by learning to operate different lines, take various machines apart and reassemble, troubleshooting and repairing, and training and developing others.

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Play an active role in the training of new extruder employees by following the training program set up by the company.

•Maintain production records and ensure extruder employees are completing records accurately.

•Perform daily inspection and/or audit of finished products before they are shipped.

•Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.

•Monitor and assess employee performance.

•Relieve employees as needed (breaks, lunches, absent team member, vacation)

•Maintain housekeeping at a high level in production area, through the involvement of all extruder employees.

•Initiate, recommend, investigate, troubleshoot and provide solutions and actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to products, processes and quality systems.

•Review production schedules, work orders, and other records/reports to determine production requirement and to evaluate current production workload.

•Develop and maintain cost-effective processes to increase productivity and employee satisfaction, while reducing waste.

•Work closely with the Maintenance department to ensure equipment maintenance is scheduled at the most opportune times, in order to minimize downtime and maximize production output.

•Develop methods to utilize personnel and resources in the best possible ways.

•Interpret and enforce company policies, safety regulations and operating procedures.

•Analyze and resolve work problems and assist management in solving problems.

•Maintain a positive, respectful and open communication with team members.

Other duties as assignedAvailable and able to work 12-hour shifts rotating weekly. 3 or 4 consecutive 12-hour day shifts 7:00 AM to 7:15 PM one week, then work 3 or 4 consecutive 12-hour night shifts 7:00 PM to 7:15 AM the next week. Then the cycle begins again. Overtimes is available and not mandatory.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma, GED (preferred but not required)Documented US work authorizationMust be 18 years of age or olderSuccessful candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and pre-employment background check.Three (3) years' experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.Basic math and measurement skills.Knowledge of good manufacturing practices is preferred.Analytical and problem-solving abilities.Oral, reading and writing fluency in English.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to endure working in a manufacturing environment with inside excessive hot and cold temperatures, able to tolerate exposure to dust and noise for 12-hour shiftsProlonged standing on concrete floors; Frequent walking; Occasional bending and squattingFrequent reaching; Repetitive use of wrist, hands and fingers

Salary Description

$15 - $20 per hour based on plastics experience
