Job Summary:

Sterile Processing Supervisor will maintain a current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRST) and is required to keep up with current with AAMI/AAAHC standards. Following duties: instrumentation decontamination, prepping/packaging and sterilization of all instrumentation processed through the NBMC clinic

and the day surgery department following established department procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervising sterile processing techniciansOperates instrument/scope washer disinfectorCleans and maintains all sterilizers.Operates the Sterrad NX sterilizer, along with the pre-vacuum steam and gravity sterilizers.Performs biological and chemical monitoring tests on steam autoclave and Sterrad Nx sterilizer, as often as needed. Also interpret and maintain accurate records of the results.Maintains accurate records of the sterilization processes and all of the parameters associated with the sterilization cyclesPerforms various clerical functions such as, answering telephones, ordering of sterile processing supplies, clinic billing, and keeping accurate records of these activities.Knowledgeable of medical and surgical supplies used throughout the clinic and is able to identify themResponsible for distribution/delivery of instrumentation as requested in a reasonable time frameKnowledge of inventory control with relationship to par level refill systemsPerforms daily clinic rounds - picking up dirty instruments from multiple physician offices, processing, packaging and delivering themOther duties as assignedKnowledgeable/adheres to O.S.H.A regulationKnowledgeable/adheres to Universal Precautions/PPEFollows standards set by AAMI/AAAHCMaintains work area in a clean, neat and orderly fashionAll employees have a responsibility to comply with our organization's policies and procedures, and the code of conduct.Experience Preferred but not required:

Check schedule and pull appropriate instruments and supplies for the day's cases (based on physician preference cards), keeping cost and efficiency in mind.Inspects equipment for proper working conditionFollows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedure.Assists with positioning of patient under the direction of a qualified practitioner.Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy.Demonstrates knowledge of table set-ups, instrumentation, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions on surgeon's preference cards, etc. for all assigned cases.Clean and redress OR following procedures.Keeps track of all needles, sponges, instrumentation and communicate with circulator and relieving scrub.Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Circulator and scrub will work together as a team to complete tasks.Accepts responsibility to identify patient problems and reports to physicians and other OR team members.Performs decontamination and sterilization processes per protocol.Cleans assigned work unit; stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary, identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment.Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent.Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRST)Two years' experience required in Sterile ProcessingCPR training within 90 days of hireDemonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth (work attendance, performance appraisals, attendance at educational offerings and flexibility of hours).
