Position SummaryThis is skilled technical work at a journeyman level involving the operation, maintenance, repair, and alteration of the campus Electric High Voltage Distribution System as a member of a lineman team. The Team's mission includes 24 hour response to campus electrical outages to restore power as quickly as possible.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles, methods, and equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical systems.
Knowledge and the ability to apply the safety methods, practices, and techniques required in electrical distribution systems work.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and to work from blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
Ability to understand and apply standard trade practices in performing work
Physical Demands
Manual laboring work in adverse weather conditions (both hot and cold temperatures).
Work from a ladder or bucket truck.
Lift 75 lbs. consistently throughout work shift, extensive climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, and squatting, and working with hands above the shoulders.
Driving as needed to perform job related tasks.

Duties/ResponsibilitiesPerforms High Voltage Lineman work:Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs high voltage, primary, and secondary underground and overhead cable.
Installs, maintains, and repairs loop feed switches, substation high voltage equipment and appurtenances, and building transformers.
Sets poles, riggings, pulls, and makes splices and interconnects high voltage and secondary cable.
Operates bucket and line trucks and performs related work as needed.
