Tax Manager Job SummaryThe Tax Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all client tax returns. This individual will possess advanced technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas, along with well-developed management and supervisory skills.
What a Tax Manager will do:
Perform technical tax review of all tax returns (individual, business, trust, gift, not-for-profit, and miscellaneous)Identify and manage issues and ensures the accuracy of the tax returnAssume responsibility for smooth flow of tax returns through the tax preparation system to assure accurate, complete, and timely preparation and delivery of all clients' tax returnsPerform tax research to resolve issues identified during reviewsDevelop tax preparation procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the processAssist in recruiting, performance evaluations, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development programsAssume client service responsibility for clients the tax manager works with directly, or where the responsibility is delegated from the partner.Supervise the use of ProSystem tax software, communicate updates to be installed, resolve issues and answers questions related to using the softwareSupervises electronic filing of tax forms and ensures timely resolution of issues
What you'll bring to the Tax Manager role:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting; or Master's degree in Taxation6+ years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research1+ years of experience supervising and directing work of tax preparersValid certified public accountant's license; or a current and valid enrolled agent licenseProficiency in tax research skills
