Job Summary

The State and Local Tax Manager is responsible for addressing clients' state and local tax issues through research and collaboration with state and local tax practice colleagues. As a member of the State and Local Tax Practice, additional responsibilities include marketing, networking, and business development within his/her area of experience and specialization and recognizing potential changes in tax policy and applying new policies to tax compliance.

While the job entails much in the way of researching and communicating (both written and orally) about SALT matters, we are ultimately looking for someone who is passionate about state and local tax and driven to develop a premier State and Local Tax practice along with us.

Responsibilities include:Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectationsThe primary focus of this position will be state income and franchise taxes, but there will be regular exposure to sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, credits and incentives, and property taxesPerform or manage technical assignments in the following areas for state income taxes: due diligence reviews, state tax provision reviews, state filing methodology reviews, state modification research and guidance, apportionment reviews, state income tax audits, nexus studies, and state tax planningPerform reviews of assigned work papers and state tax returns for key clientsResearch and resolve complex state and local tax issuesPrepare technical memoranda, matrices and other client deliverablesDraft internal and external SALT AlertsRecognize opportunities and market state and local tax services to clients and prospectsRequirements include:

CPA, JD and/or LLM requiredBachelor's degree in accounting5+ years of current or recent experience in public accounting or corporate tax departmentSignificant experience working with C CorporationsExperience with pass-through entities and individuals is preferredExcellent communication and writing skillsStrong tax research skillsStrong project management skills
