Assist Model Audit Rule (MAR) Process Director with developing annual risk assessment utilized to develop MAR Annual Strategic Plan. Including identifying and evaluating emerging risks, new processes or changes affecting management, systems, colleague talent within assigned processes. Analysis of new software, technology and/or realignment within business units.Assist MAR Director with developing risk/control training for companywide training initiatives. Assist with programs to educate and inform process owners about MAR requirements on a continuous basis. Availability for consulting, as assigned by MAR Director, with middle & senior management concerning financial process controls, remediation plans, assessed risks, & quarterly/annual results. Additionally assist with developing quarterly reporting for Management and Audit Committee.Further team responsibilities may include review of MAR team and business areas; sign off on control design and effectiveness, participation in LEAN initiative, system development projects, and/or offsite processing ventures affecting the financial control nature of AFA. Additional items may be included at the discretion of the MAR Director.Interpret and apply NAIC (National Association of Insurance Companies) guidance and corporate ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) results to ascertain the business process areas have implemented comprehensive business processes, which incorporate key financial controls. Assist management in refining complex process documentation, enhancing key financial control language, designing and performing testing procedures ensuring testing routines include assurance on audit and accounting assertions, developing appropriate remediation plans as required, and performing annual walkthroughs to validate accuracy of process workflows. Review developed control designs, process documents, process walkthroughs, and other related work products completed by the MAR II Analyst. Provide review notes and direction and follow up with MAR Director to ensure product addresses the program objectives. Provide consultative services to middle & senior managers and process owners on process flows, identifying, and implementing financial controls.Assist external audit firm and insurance examiners in performing annual testing of financial controls, which are incorporated in quarterly financial control testing routines. Assign staff required control work requested by external audit firm/insurance examiners.Skills of Ideal Candidate

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university - degree in MIS, Accounting or Business AdministrationSeven to ten years internal audit or internal controls experience: process documentation, risk identification, control assessment, control testing, root cause analysis, remediation discussions/development and follow up, various report writing projects, and necessary communications.Advanced knowledge of IPPF, SoX regulations, accounting standards, NAIC MAR regulations, internal audit practice, and advanced skills related to process reviews, process documentation, analyzing process flow, identification of key financial points, developing testing programs including assertions, for key financial controls, testing performance, and review in relation to NAIC guidanceSome experience in supervising work process flow, product accuracy, budget adherence, and achievement of deadlines.Prior experience analyzing financial and operational risks and related controls, analytical skills, working knowledge of accounting practices, internal audit practice and standards, IPPF, SoX regulations, and NAIC MAR regulationsProficiency with PC Windows-based software, including Microsoft Office applications - Excel, Word, PDF, and PowerPointStrong oral and written communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analysis and interpretation skillsAbility to work without close supervisionSelf-motivation, team player and positive attitudeCIA, CISA, or CPA required. Other audit, IT or information security related certification preferred.
