VP, Biomedicine Commercial Hybrid Role with home base in Gaithersburg, MD or Boston, MA Your Tasks:

The VP Commercial North America is responsible for the successful launch and long-term success of Miltenyi Biomedicine. This role will lead a senior-level cross-functional launch team, including Market Access, Sales, Medical Affairs, Business Operations, Trade, and will develop pre-launch and launch plans for the US in collaboration with Global Team, ensuring excellence in launch execution and building a US commercial team. This position will work cross-functionally across the company with Global functions to support launch and commercialization of a CAR-T product. This requires strong cross-functional leadership, communication, deep knowledge of targeted therapies (CAR-T) and entrepreneurial skills to build novel approaches to bring this first-in-class treatment to patients. All this needs to be done with a strong focus on compliance. This individual must be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is strategic, proactive, and hands-on. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of market structure, dynamics and key players. It requires thorough strategic thinking to assess and develop plans related to various opportunities that are in-line with the overall strategies, leading "one company" mindset and ensuring flawless execution of all plans and processes.

This position will report to the Chief Commercial Officer located in HQ, Germany.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Commercial Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy for the CAR-T. Identify a go-to-market plan, execute it, and measure effectiveness through pre-determined key performance indicators (KPIs). Build internal commercial capabilities to support launch (implementation of SOPs, IT infrastructure, etc.) Implement and localize global brand vision, value proposition, positioning, branding elements, and marketing messages to enhance overall value proposition. Drive strategy for zamto-cel, working with the cross-functional team to refine brand strategy/tactics over time, and lead marketing team in executing tactics. Drive revenue growth, market expansion, and customer acquisition through innovative approaches. Participate as key member of commercial leadership team, driving commercial strategy and leading-cross functional launch team (Market Access, Operations, Trade & Distribution, Medical Affairs) to drive business decisions and achieve launch goals.

Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing commercial team, including sales, marketing, reimbursement, and market access. Set clear targets and provide guidance to achieve commercial goals. Implement best practices for sales and marketing processes, pipeline management, and performance metrics. Balance the need to build a lean team at a fast-growing startup with the need to hire expertise across multiple disease sites.

Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams. Foster relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to drive business growth and ensure customer satisfaction. Analyze and offer creative strategies to launch product on the US market. These include partnerships with health systems, large clinician group practices, pharmaceutical companies, payers, and any third-party entities whose products or technologies would enhance the company offering.

Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs. Utilize insights to refine and enhance product offerings, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with, and support, other departments, including operations, product, medical affairs, regulatory, and clinical development to align commercial efforts with overall business objectives. Champion a culture of teamwork and collaboration across the organization.

Performance Monitoring: Build a system to monitor KPIs, sales forecasts, and financial targets to measure performance and identify areas for improvement. Implement effective reporting mechanisms to track progress and provide regular updates to the executive team.

Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks related to commercial operations, pricing, contracts, and market fluctuations. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or other Advanced Degree preferred; Minimum of 15 years' experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with a strong background in new product planning and commercial strategy; Or a combination of education and experience.

Experience as a member of the sales organization or having led the launch and management of a new drug or new indication of an existing drug. Experience in competitive rare disease launch and commercialization in the U.S. Experience in a CAR-T commercialization is a plus

Proven track record in developing commercial strategies for clinical-stage assets.

Managed a P&L for a business or function.

Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally with marketing brand teams, market research, sales, managed markets, sales operations, medical affairs, business development, regulatory, research & development, manufacturing, finance and legal.

Deep understanding of drug development process, clinical trial design, and regulatory pathways.

Prior collaboration with Key Opinion Leaders and investigators.

Proven track record of developing talent and being a culture champion.

Ability to execute senior leader endorsed, cross-enterprise projects across a broad group of stakeholders (COEs, strategic partners, executive sponsors, etc.).

Strong executive presence, commercial acumen, and communication skills. Ability to work from our Boston office at least 50%

Ability to travel as needed up to 50%

This job requires the person to be mobile to visit clinical trial sites. Due to the travel requirements, this position may be exposed to natural elements of nature. Used research/clinical equipment may be handled in this job and strict SOPs must be followed and PPE may be required to be worn per Miltenyi or hospital policies.
