This role will be responsible for the underwriting, profit, growth, and retention of new and renewal business and developing and executing upon CopperPoint's profitable growth strategies. We are looking for an experienced underwriting leader with deep knowledge of technical insurance principles and concepts, rates, rules, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes, and a history of successfully handling large account referrals and leading and developing underwriting teams.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, monitor, and execute underwriting strategies to support the company's objectives.Maintain a strong understanding of the marketplace, pricing, and product offerings as well as demographic trends and reports any changes that may impact the company's position in the market.Manage assigned book of business, and underwriting team, as if it was his/her own business and continually stay abreast of book performance, trends, new/renewal account status, growth opportunities, and agency management challenges and opportunities.Conduct file reviews on a regular basis to identify training or coaching opportunities.Demonstrate and develop highly collaborative relationships, as well as a work environment, with all internal business partners including Business Development & Distribution, Claims, Loss Control, Data & Actuarial, Operations, Premium Audit, etc.Sustain a thorough working knowledge of all company operations such as underwriting guidelines and letters of authority, procedures and tools, and policy and coverage provisions.Establish, monitor, and implement pricing guidance on new and renewal business to assure long-term profitability.Promote and lead a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports and entire underwriting staff, providing regular feedback, and developing employees for broader roles and responsibilities to achieve company objectives and foster professional growth and development.Manage change in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to ensure a high level of engagement and performance and successful implementation of new systems, processes and procedures.Qualifications:

8+ years of related insurance industry experience with increasing responsibility including prior management experience.Prior Auto, General Liability, Umbrella and Property experience required.Multi-Line experience is strongly preferred.Experience with Loss Sensitive programs preferred.Existing Pacific Northwest agency relationships preferred.Experience with successful underwriting system launches and change management (ideally GuideWire) preferred but not required.Ability to effectively coach and mentor underwriting staff to improve performance and develop employees for future roles and broader responsibilities.High intellectual capacity, strong verbal and written communication skills; consistently "sweats the details".Strategic thinker.Strong relationship developer, with both internal customers (shared services leaders) and external customers (agency principals and producers).Executive-level written and verbal communication skills.Education/Certificates:

BS/BA college degree. The knowledge and skill levels acquired through undergraduate-level studies, especially in the areas of business administration, finance, or marketing.Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).Associate In Risk Management (ARM).Associate In Commercial Underwriting (AU).Salary Range:

$166,000.00 - $195,000.00 USD annually.Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.Benefits:

In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
