Overview:
Performs application engineering, testing, development, sales support, simulation activities using the DGS software suite, and customization of the Process Automation product lines consisting of SMT, Screen Printers, and Odd-form product offerings. The activities can include pre-and post-sales support roles and some tactical roles researching and reporting on developments for the customers.Responsibilities:What You Get to Do:
Performs and provides Engineering expertise in the design of process and operation of machines and related equipment and the software suite of DGS or CIM. May work closely with other engineering disciplines to increase machine quality, efficiency, and volume. Can be called upon to support sales and service activities for pre-and post-sales activities including installations, presentations, troubleshooting, and machine optimization.Activities include technical writing for training documents and conferences, technical presentations at customer technical review meetings, machine evaluations involving on-site support, component evaluations and testing, interface and providing feedback to the PFSC design and CS organization- Japan, and other engineering support activities.AccountabilitiesTECHNICAL KNOWLEDGEResponsible for developing and maintaining expertise in the Panasonic electronic assembly equipment, process, solutions, and software systems. Performs engineering research, engineering design, and development of experimental methods for various technologies. It is required to develop the skills necessary to become the internally recognized technical leader and, or expert in the Panasonic systems above. Technical knowledge includes the entire assembly process including wave soldering, reflow soldering, selective soldering, board handling and transport, AOI automatic optical inspection, and component mounting. Extensive use of experimental design is required. Mechanical design including nozzle and various mechanical assembly techniques requiredRequires hands-on working environment within the machine focus aspect of the position. These include system testing, product development, customer machine evaluations, and component evaluations.Product Evaluations- Must continue to keep updated on technical product changes and market operational information. Utilizes knowledge to adapt and incorporate design processes to meet or exceed competition or offset perceived advantages with other features or applications.SALES AND SERVICE SUPPORTSupports sales force in developing and maintaining account relationships with technical knowledge. Provides technical training to sales and service individuals.Supports product installations in certain applications and will be called upon to troubleshoot machine issues with service personnel. Can be utilized for sales presentations to support technical processes inherent with specific machines.Analyzes equipment specifications to ensure products meet industry safety and electrical standards. Receives factory training on assigned products to support post-sales activities.MACHINE EVALUATIONSWork with the project team on the technical aspects of the machine evaluations. Includes throughput simulations, machine programming and debugging, training, setup, and operation of the Panasonic North America machines and systems. Machine evaluations require a significant commitment to on-site support involving extensive travel supporting the sales staff.Provide summary reports to senior management on all active projects.INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGEMay represent Panasonic in various industry and trade shows including technical demonstrations. Participates in studies on product reliability and breaking new technologies.Using Lean principles, identify deficient processes to improve the efficiency of machine and customer operations performance indicators.What You'll Bring:Education and ExperienceBS degree in engineering or higher- chemistry, material science, industrial engineering, etc.3-5 years of engineering experience.Preference for electronic assembly experience SMTWorking knowledge of CAE systems such as Solid works, PRO or E or other 3D modeling software is preferred but not required.AutoCAD experience preferred, but not required.MS Office suite working knowledge required.Preference for advanced skills in MS Excel including VBA and macro development or usage, but not required.Statistical analysis is part of daily activities.
