About the Role and the Department

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team at Catchafire. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in analyzing financial data, managing financial processes, and supporting operational efficiency. This position requires a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:

AccountingMonth-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and posting journal entriesPreparing and ensuring the accuracy of financial statementsAccount Receivables and Account PayablesManage invoicing and billingFinancial reportingSupport the Director of Finance in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportsAssist in the preparation of financial statements and documentation for tax and audit filingsEnsure timely and accurate reporting of financial data to internal and external stakeholdersBudgetingSupport the development and monitoring of annual budgetsTrack and report on budget performance, including variance analysisAssist departmental managers in managing their budgets and expendituresOperational Efficiency:Streamline financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial operations and implement best practices.Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational performance.Compliance and Risk Management:Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls.Assist in the preparation of audit, tax, and regulatory filings.Identify and mitigate financial risks to protect company assets.Project Support:Assist in financial projects, providing data analysis and insights.Participate in system implementation and upgrade projects to enhance financial operations.Competencies:Analytical Thinking:Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.Attention to DetailAbility to keep accurate and organized recordsAdaptabilityAbility to adapt to changing conditions and challenges that arise from evolving business models.Problem Solving:Proactive in identifying issues and developing effective solutions.Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.Team Collaboration:Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team environment.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA or bookkeeping certification) is a plus.Minimum: has goals or is intending to become a CPAExperience:2-4 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, operations, or a related field.Experience with financial software (QBO, Bill.com, Rillet, Brex or equivalent) is preferred.501(c)(3) accounting experience is a plusTechnical Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, particularly Excel and Sheets (advanced functions).Other Requirements:Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience and geography dependent - $59,000K - 65,000KA fully remote work environment with a one-time work-from-home stipend to help you set up your spaceUnlimited PTO and 50 hours of paid time off to volunteer.401K, medical, vision, and dental insurance
