We are currently accepting applications for the Part Time position of:
Per-Diem Crossing Guard Assistants
Lexington Police Department
Hourly Rate: $30.13
The REQUIRED Town of Lexington application form and cover letter must be received in the
Town's Human Resource Department. This position is open until filled.
The Lexington Police Department is looking for qualified individuals to work as Per-Diem Crossing GuardAssistants. On an intermittent and temporary basis, the Town of Lexington will staff vacant crossinglocations with employees who are not members of the bargaining unit. After proper training, Per-DiemCrossing Guards may be required to assist with vehicles exiting or entering the school property. It is theintent that these Crossing Assistants will work per-diem when an assigned crossing location is vacantdue to resignation, illness, leave or other circumstance and no other Crossing Guard or Floater isavailable to staff it.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Punctual when reporting to an assigned school crossing.2. To be attentive and to cross children in a safe manner.3. To report any unsafe condition that could endanger the safety of the school children.4. To comply with the regulations required by the Department.5. No Crossing Guard Assistant shall enforce criminal or motor vehicle laws.
Must be able to stand outdoors for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions (rain,sleet, snow, heat).
Proper safety equipment (stop sign, safety vest and white gloves) will be supplied.
*External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled as defined under theAmericans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions either unaided or withthe assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case by case basis.
