Must be able to work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:As a member of our administrative team, you will work primarily with clerical support for the Appeals Department. Our hearing officers hold first level appeals from an original determination in disputed claims for unemployment insurance benefits under the Texas Unemployment Compensations Act; and disputed claims for unemployment insurance under specific federal programs. We may also be called upon to hold other special hearings. These hearings are mandated by state law and are to be held in a fair and impartial manner. You can expect to work under close supervision, especially during training, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:-Perform entry level administrative support for the State Office Appeals Department of the Texas Workforce Commission.-Enter necessary data on UI Claims Function, as instructed and other special processing procedures.-May forward correspondence to appropriate personnel or department for processing or correction.-Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and fax within established time frame.-Use personal computer and benefits mainframe database to analyze appeals to determine appropriate issues, parties, and scheduling considerations for administrative hearings. Expedite cases for scheduling.-Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, fax and email within established time frame.-Process digital information with CDs or digital storage devices, copy recordings as requested; type letters and keep daily log of all completed and pending request.-Perform other duties as assigned, which may include cross training to assist other units as need arises.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:-Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus six months of full-time experience that provided knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices and procedures, or clerical administration and business management practices, such as preparation, maintenance, and control of forms, records, and reports.-Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for six months of experience.

Current juniors and/or seniors, participating in a high school career and technical education program under a Law and Public Service or Business, Marketing, and Finance Program of Study will satisfy the minimum qualifications. Hours worked in this role will count as practicum hours towards the students Level 4 CTE Program of Study requirements.
