Pediatric Infectious Disease (F51980)Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Health - Richmond, VAMission or Goal of Unit:The mission of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is to provide superior subspecialty clinical care to the children of Central Virginia, to provide outstanding training in infectious diseases for medical students, residents and subspecialty fellows, and to generate new knowledge through both clinical and basic science research projects.Chief Purpose of this position:The Division of Infectious Diseases provides clinical care to patients with all types of infectious processes in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Services will include:Inpatient and outpatient consultation for children with suspected infections, or infections that are complex, chronic or recurrent, or particularly difficult to treat;Phone consultation for physicians and other pediatric medical professionals who need assistance and advice with infectious disease issues pertinent to their patients;Consultation for review of antibiotic, antiviral or antifungal therapies, including assistance in drug monitoring for toxicities and side effects for both inpatient and home health services;Consultation on epidemiologic issues in the health care setting as well as the in the community;Services in specialized outpatient clinics.Position Responsibilities:Teaching:Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities.
