Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist provides human resources consultation with leaders and staff to facilitate the delivery of strategic and operational human resources programs and services that supports and advances the University’s mission.
Primary Responsibilities
Plans, develops and implements recruitment and talent acquisition strategies including the recruitment, screening, selection, placement, and hiring of qualified and diverse staff for positions across the University.
Consults with department partners to resolve complex HR issues and respond accordingly to managers and employees.
Serves as liaison between management, staff and applicants regarding University policies, employment policies and practices.
Consults with supervisors and staff on a variety of employee relations matters; leads or participates in investigations, and provide objective recommendations for appropriate action and resolution.
Actively works to support University compliance with local, state, and federal laws and statutes related to employment.
Additional Examples of Work Performed
Leads and/or coordinates a variety of HR-related initiatives and projects
Lead or facilitate presentations/trainings in large and small group settings
Represent Human Resources on University-wide committees and task-forces
All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Qualifications:Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in Human Resources required.
Previous full-cycle recruitment experience required (sourcing through onboarding).
Demonstrated experience in investigating and resolving complex employee relations issues.
Knowledge of local, state and federal employment law and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
SHRM-CP/SCP, or PHR/SPHR certification preferred
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
Show initiative and work independently with little supervision.
Maintain composure intense work environment related to meeting deadlines, conflict resolution, dealing with potential volatile situations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of Human Resources areas such as benefits, compensation administration, talent acquisition, employee relations, HRIS, and training.
Exceptional computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and database).
Attention to details, accuracy and precision.
Ability to be attentive to details, be accurate, be precise.
Ability to lead/teach and mentor others.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to show initiative; organize workflow; manage one or more projects; and handle frequent interruptions.
Able to lead, teach, influence and motivate employees on all levels of the organization.
Able to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality.
Able to handle frequent interruptions, multi-task and organize workflow, and manage multiple projects.
