Job Summary

The purchasing manager will oversee the procurement process for materials, tools, and services necessary to produce and install granite countertops. This role requires managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that inventory levels meet the company's production demands while maintaining cost-efficiency and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management:

Source and procure granite slabs, tools, adhesives, sinks, and other materials.

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, both domestic and international.

Negotiate favorable pricing, delivery terms, and contracts with suppliers.

Evaluate suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Inventory Management:

Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock for production needs.

Collaborate with the production and warehouse teams to forecast material requirements.

Implement inventory control systems to prevent overstock or shortages.

Cost Control & Budgeting:

Develop and manage the purchasing budget.

Analyze market trends to anticipate pricing fluctuations and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.

Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality standards.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all purchased materials meet company quality standards.

Collaborate with the quality control team to address any material defects or issues.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, pricing, and inventory levels.

Prepare regular reports on purchasing performance, costs, and inventory turnover.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the production, sales, and warehouse departments to align purchasing strategies with company objectives.

Participate in weekly meetings to review project requirements and align procurement efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in purchasing, preferably in construction or manufacturing (granite countertop experience is a plus).

Strong knowledge of granite, quartz, other natural stones, and related tools and materials.

Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.

Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience managing supplier contracts and relationships.

Problem-Solving: Unexpected issues can arise in supply chains (e.g., delayed shipments, defective materials), so quick, efficient problem-solving is critical.

Industry Knowledge: Understanding the nuances of granite, stone materials, and fabrication tools is critical to ensuring the right products are sourced.
