POSITION:SHIFT Manager

STATUS:HOURLY NON-EXEMPT, Hired in as full time employee

Being a Shift Leader is the cherry on top of a Strawberry Banana Split Molten Cake Sundae. You’ll assist the Drive-In’s General Manager in managing Drive-In operations. You will also be involved in training and supporting other employees to ensure we provide quality food in a clean, safe and efficient manner. We want every guest to have an enjoyable dining experience every time they come to SONIC.

Essential Job Duties

Manages, trains, monitors and coaches crew members, carhops and skating carhops

Directs and assigns Drive-In employees as needed to ensure all aspects of service meet operational standards

Adheres to and monitors employee compliance of the Drive-In employee handbook, policies and practices

Performs opening and/or closing duties

Monitors and makes appropriate adjustments to staffing levels, inventory levels and food cost control

Completes weekly inventory as needed

Assists in administrative duties including maintaining files, records and all required documentation

Reinforces a customer service mentality and ensures all employees are focused on serving the customer at all times.

Immediately and respectfully responds to guest requests. Reports guest complaints to immediate supervisor and assists in resolving such complaints.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to work irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays

Hours worked are expected, but not guaranteed to be between 30 to 50 hours per week

General knowledge and understanding of the restaurant industry or retail operations required

Minimum of six months of restaurant management experience (QSR) or one year entry level retail management experience required. Experience running shifts without supervision

Effective communication skills; basic math, reading and computer skills

Ability to follow directions and work with autonomy once given directions; ability to multi-task and successfully solve problems

Willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform and hygiene standards at SONIC

POSITION:NIGHT SHIFT Manager

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:GENERAL MANAGER, Assistance Manager

STATUS:HOURLY, NON-EXEMPT, Hired in as Full Time Employee

Manages and leads all aspects of the evening business; responsible for: training, coaching and development of crew; for providing quality food in a clean, safe and positive environment; and for delivering Operations Consistency and a great Guest Experience at all times.

As a SONIC Night Shift Leader, you will be responsible for supervising operations and enhancing dinner and late-night Drive-In business. The required schedule is a 40-50 hour work week, 5 nights per week, 8-10 hours per shift. The Night Shift Leader will lead, coach, train and develop employees to ensure we provide quality food in a clean, safe and positive work environment so all Guests receive an enjoyable experience at SONIC!

Essential Job Duties

Leads evening business Drive-In execution, driving increased Sales and Customer Measures

Leads, coaches, trains and develops Crew Members, Carhops and Associate Shift Leaders

Manages Drive-In operations for dinner and late night business, performs closing duties

Directs and assigns Drive-In employees to ensure all aspects of Service standards are delivered

Knowledgeable to write PM schedule if needed and proactively manages labor, based on sales and projections

Enforces Food Safety Audit Checklist compliance and maintains Food Cost Control during evening business

Monitors and maintains Inventory levels. Places orders for food and paper within cost control procedures

Knowledgeable and implements Safety & Security measures during every shift

Monitors employee compliance of the Drive-In Employee Handbook policies and procedures

Leads pre-shift meetings, reviews goals and ensures all Employees are focused on great Guest Service

Immediately and respectfully resolves Guest requests. Reports Guest complaints to immediate supervisor

Immediately and respectfully resolves Employee concerns, complying with company policy

Works with General Manager to interview and hire Crew and Management team members

Assists with Performance Appraisal completion for night Crew

Leads a Great Work Environment for ALL Employees and Guests, every shift

Additional Requirements

Required to work a 40-50 hour work week, 5 nights per week, 8-10 hours per shift

Leadership and supervisory practices and skills; effective verbal and written communication skills

Problem solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skills

Ability to multi-task, follow directions and lead with autonomy once given directions

Time Management, Organizational and basic Accounting and Computer skills

Knowledge and experience with recruiting, interviewing and selection practices

Complies with SONIC Drive-In policies, procedures and all federal and state laws and regulation

Willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform and hygiene standards at SONIC

Minimum of 1 year restaurant management experience (QSR preferred), leading shifts without supervision

High School diploma or equivalent required; Advanced studies in business, restaurant management preferred.
