Summary StatementThe Plant Cost Accountant position is responsible for the Cost Accounting function for the company which includes rolling new product costs, research and correction of costs throughout the year and the annual cost roll. This position is also responsible for the General Accounting function for BG & AB Operations, which includes the monthly accounting close process, forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning.Key Job ElementsReview APCs issued by Document Control and roll costs as necessaryInvestigate cost issues and questions that ariseConduct annual cost roll for the entire companyResponsible for monthly accounting close process, including journal entry preparation, inventory reconciliations and other account reconciliationsAssist Plant Controller and Ops Directors with variance analysis, forecasts, budgets, and other financial analysisAssist in preparation of business unit MDRs and compilation of strategic review materialsDaily productivity and inventory reportingWeekly preparation of PPM informationAssist in the implementation and improvement of internal controlsAssist Accounts Payable in resolving receiving issues at the plantsCoordinate annual physical inventoriesMaintain fixed asset subsidiary ledgerMonitor and reconcile petty cash as required

Basic QualificationsB.S. in Accounting with 3-5 years cost accounting and plant experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Public accounting experience will be considered in lieu of manufacturing experience if the candidate can demonstrate a solid understanding of a standard costing system. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. CPA or CMA certification is desirable. Must be proficient in Excel and BPCS experience is a plus. Limited travel to other facilities is required.
