Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Transformation, the Clinical Transformation Analyst will facilitate the designing and testing of the Stony Brook Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other computerized applications as it pertains to clinical practice. This position functions to provide clinical process design and end-user education for automated application system enhancements and automated tools. This position will be responsible for being the subject matter experts that support clinical (ambulatory, acute, ancillary) disciplines. They will proactively round on users in all clinical areas, interacting with end users and serving as the liaison between end users and the IT analysts. Clinical Transformation will serve as the big picture advisor and will work with the business owner and IT representatives to meet the business needs. They will ensure that all systems development effecting patient care areas are consistent with information technology standards, clinical standards, quality and patient safety initiatives, JCAHO, and other regulatory agency requirements.
Duties of a Clinical Transformation Analyst may include the following but are not limited to:
Adheres to mission and values of the Department and Stony Brook University Hospital.
Communicates in a professional manner.
Cultivates good working relationships with staff, department management, physicians and executives.
Facilitates the design discussion of the EMR in collaboration with other clinical departments by facilitating customer focused design sessions. Also collaborate with EMR project managers to keep in scope.
Work with clinical end users to analyze their patient care requirements, map process models, design technical solutions to satisfy requirements, documents detailed specifications for IT build and complete formal system testing.
Collaborate with education department to develop plans for training.
Facilitate/attend meetings and serve as an advisor and coordinates champion participation. Rounds on a regular basis in all assigned clinical areas and provides on the spot training.
Participate in local and/or system level change control process;
Vet all change requests at the local level prior to committee reviewAssess impact of change requestsWrite test scripts and training plans
Support quality improvement initiatives.
Assist with system changes and domain events (upgrades, downtimes, etc).
Distinguish between training, workflow or system issues and escalate/report issues to the correct persons and follow-up for closure.
Facilitate multi-disciplinary workflow issue resolution.
Facilitate resolution for end user critical issues.
Develop and distribute EMR communications.
Participate with policies and procedure development for specific.
Leads policies and procedure development for specific department/function responsibilities related to clinical application systems.
Demonstrates a desire for continued growth by participation in continuing education programs.
Contributes to the productivity and efficient operation of the department through skills transfer, continued professional growth, and self-education of new emerging technologies.
Participate in clinical system evaluation when necessary in order to ensure the new solution meets SBUH information technology standards.
During implementation of the EMR, and on an occasional basis, the Clinical Transformation Analyst will be required to work irregular hours due to project deadlines.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health or business related field or informatics.At least three 3 years of experience with Electronic Health Records and a minimum of 3 years' experience in clinical practice.Experience/knowledge of clinical application implementation experience required.Basic computer literacy skills required (skills that allow individuals to use computer technology to accomplish tasks which may include but are not limited to applications such as a word processor, database, spreadsheet, and communication via email).Must be able to approach technical and user problems analytically.Enthusiasm and commitment to the development and support of the EMR.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently, be self-directed and show initiative and enthusiasm.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cerner experienceMaster's degree in Healthcare ITInformatics CertificationPossession of a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
