Job Description

Chubb is currently recruiting for a Senior Underwriter, Financial Lines based out of our Los Angeles, California office.

The Underwriter will report to the Pacific South Regional Manager. The Senior Underwriter will manage a PNP renewal portfolio largely encompassing retail brokerages for the Phoenix Branch, new business supporting our Pacific North San Ramon branch and other new & renewal opportunities. The position will be primarily focused on underwriting Commercial Insurance Accounts ( $1Billion in Revenues) and unicorn business. Lines of business include D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Employed Lawyers, Crime, Kidnap Ransom & Extortion, and Workplace Violence Expense coverage.

The Senior Underwriter must develop book growth, maintain superior relationships, and implement effective and profitable pricing rate strategies. Underwriting will include marketing and servicing accounts based on Chubb guidelines.

They will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to grow the Commercial Insurance book through prospect identification and pipeline development, new business production, and account management in coordination with other departments. This underwriting position, coupled with other new business underwriting resources will be responsible for $1M+ of new business annually.

The Underwriter will have accountability for the financial performance of this book of business, achieving growth for the branch and region. They will identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources, identify cross sell opportunities, conduct agency planning/goal setting including monitoring of progress and make regular broker and insured visits (based on business need).

Qualifications

Skills Required:

•Ideally, 3-5 years underwriting experience in management liability.

•Strong sales and marketing skills are critical. The ability to position accounts and close deals is a key requirement.

•Must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development. Must also have the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners and nurture key producer relations.

•High degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, risk analysis, and work effectively in collaboration with an Underwriting Associate.

•Must have exemplary ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and coworkers.

•Knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies expected.

•Must be a collaborative partner with the Field, Home Office, Claims, General Counsel, Compliance, Marketing and Communications, Operations and Learning & Development to successfully execute underwriting strategy.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software required.

•Effective desk management is a critical part of this role.

Education and Experience:

•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

The pay range for the role is $71,500 to $115,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors.
