J2 is a 30-bed adult surgical unit affiliated with New England Baptist. We care for patients ranging from 18 years of age to geriatrics.

The majority of admissions to J2 are from the postoperative anesthesia care unit (PACU), followed by admissions from the emergency department who have an orthopedic, surgical or gastrointestinal diagnosis.

In this role, you will assume responsibility to lead our team in providing quality patient care. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care from admission to discharge and you will be responsible to direct, assign and supervise ancillary staff team members in providing the appropriate level of care in the most efficient manner. You will also act as a role model to staff members.

The orientation period is specific to the orientee and the unit in which you are working. The average medical surgical orientation is approximately a 12- week residency program. Preceptors will be assigned to you for the duration of your orientation. The clinical educator who supports your unit will remain with you through your orientation period and beyond.
