TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Oncology RN in Bangor, Maine, 04401 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology Job Specialty: Grant 6E- Oncology Job Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 7PM-7AM, 12-hour Night Shift Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1 year as RN preferred; travelers welcome License: Registered Nurse Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemo certification preferred, may be required for certain roles - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred Must-Have: ONS (Chemo Certification) Job Description: - Provide care to oncology and medical-surgical patients, with typical diagnoses including stroke, COPD, respiratory issues, GI bleed, renal failure, oncology, electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, and non-operable fractures. - Manage a patient ratio of 1:5-6 during night shifts, adjusting based on patient acuity and available support. - Perform general medical-surgical skills, including trach care, chest tube management, wound care, IV starts, central line management, and more. - Use standard charting systems and medical equipment such as Cerner and Alaris. - Participate in a weekend rotation every other weekend. - Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy staff, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists. - Engage in a supportive environment with ongoing training and a focus on communication and teamwork. - Expected to wear professional scrubs of any color, but no crocs with holes and no artificial nails. - Support and resources include a unit resource RN available during the day shift, and phlebotomy assistance. - Orientation comprises 2 days of hospital orientation and 1 shift on the unit.
