This Graduate Assistantship position is available within the Tulane Athletics Marketing Department. The responsibilities listed below provide a guideline of expected responsibilities. Detailed responsibilities will be assigned based on candidate’s background. This opportunity is available for the 2024-25 academic year, with an anticipated start date of January 6, 2025.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Assist the Tulane Athletics Marketing staff in the development, coordination and implementation of all game presentation and fan experience efforts for all 17 sports, and any specific sport or event assigned.Produce and write game scripts, PA scripts and timelines.Staff and operate video boards during various home events, where applicable.Create music playlists for all assigned sports.Schedule/coordinate event entertainment (halftime/intermission acts, national anthem singers, etc.)Manage and schedule game day staffing including DJ, Emcee, PA announcer and student workers.Serve as a liaison with the cheer squad, dance team, pep band and marching band.Lead the marketing planning process for assigned sports collaborating with marketing, ticketing, creative services and communications.Fulfill sponsored elements such as logo exposure, PA announcements, promotions, and events by working directly with LEARFIELD/Tulane Sports Properties.Create an electric atmosphere at all home games through the use of promotions, giveaways, contests, trivia, music and more.Oversee select special events, such as Fan Days, Season Ticket Holder Events, and On-Campus Student Initiatives.Provide leadership and assist in overseeing student workers and their assigned responsibilities.Assist in managing community outreach & engagement throughout New Orleans.Assist in the student marketing efforts; including helping manage the student fan club.Oversee and manage Riptide’s Kids Club.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be currently enrolled in a Tulane University graduate program or able to receive admission into a Tulane University graduate program for the Spring 2025 semester.Bachelor’s degreeInterest in working in college athletics or professional sports upon graduation.Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and strong time management skillsExcellent oral communication skills, written communication skills, and customer service skillsAbility to multi-task, stay organized, keep up with high-energy, fast paced environmentWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to work nights and weekendsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Sports Management, Marketing, public relations, or advertising undergraduate degree (or related field)Previous work experience or internship in the sports industry a plusWorking knowledge of Daktronics Video Board Systems and various audio programsWorking knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Working knowledge of collegiate sports and NCAA guidelinesNCAA Related:Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
