The ideal candidate should succeed at: orchestrating great events, maintaining impeccable attention to detail, being a masterful communicator, and building strong relationships with donors. When you’re not leading awesome events, stewarding donors, and keeping our data in order, you will support other Seattle Works programs & activities, such as hands-on volunteer projects (painting, weeding, and everything in between). The ideal candidate is open to and thrives in an all-hands on deck team culture.POSITION OBJECTIVEThe Development and Communications Manager is responsible for:Planning and implementing our annual auction and gala and other fundraising eventsBuilding and stewarding relationships with donors, including recruiting a diverse donor pool to strive for an equitable and inclusive donor baseManaging donor data, ensuring that all information is documented in a timely manner and that no information falls through the cracksLeading communications strategy and creation of social media content and marketing materialsThis position will serve as a key member of a highly collaborative staff team. Seattle Works is a friendly and dynamic organization with high expectations for staff to work in partnership with each other and with volunteers to deliver results.RESPONSIBILITIESLead planning and execution of Swank, our annual auction & galaDevelop and implement event production plan for an auction and gala with 400 attendees, including all vendor coordination, event logistics, and program developmentDrive audience development and ensure an excellent guest and sponsor experience at the eventManage Swank Committee’s volunteer-led activities around procurement, event design, and audience developmentDevelop all communications materials for the event, including copy for auction catalogLead data entry and guest reports for online auction softwareManage event logistics the night of the eventCoordinate Seattle Works Day communication, sponsor team management, and after partyLead after party planning and coordinate planning with program staff leadCultivate and recruit sponsors, acting as the primary relationship manager for sponsored teamsBuild a multi-platform communications strategy to market the event amongst direct service partners, participants, vendors, sponsors, and other key stakeholdersCoordinate vendors and in-kind donations and any necessary pick-up and delivery logisticsSteward corporate engagement and relationshipsAct as primary contact for portfolio of current corporate partners and executing outreach to new corporate partnersChampion our value of building a diverse and welcoming community with our corporate partnersSolicit and steward sponsors for Seattle Works Day and SwankBuild and sustain a year-round corporate sponsorship program that has several programmatic and event touch-pointsCollaborate with Program Team to coordinate and staff tabling and outreach appearances at corporate partner volunteer fairsOversee individual giving programManage individual giving programs, with a focus on the peer-to-peer online annual campaign, board giving, and event donationsRecruit and steward a diverse donor pool to strive for an equitable and inclusive donor networkCollaborate with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, and Resource Development Committee to steward donor relationshipsWork with Resource Development Committee to prepare online and social media appeals and track progress on goalsProvide excellent customer service for donors and respond promptly to all inquiriesMaintain accurate and complete development and donor dataLead Seattle Works’ communications strategy and activitiesLead organizational communications strategy with emphasis on social media and email campaignsServe as Seattle Works’ primary writer, producing e-newsletters, web content, marketing materials, grant materials, website content, and regular social media contentSupport staff in ensuring all programs and events are well publicized, meet participation goals, and that communications reflect the Seattle Works brandUse social media data and analytics to make key decisions about communications and outreach priorities and strategiesCollaborate with graphic designer to build a comprehensive graphics suite for events and additional marketing materials as neededManage board Communications CommitteeOther duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Knowledge, Experience, and SkillsUnderstanding of systemic racism and willingness to engage in equity conversationsLived and/or professional experience that will help Seattle Works live our value of building a diverse and welcoming community, specifically with regards to our donor baseStrong event, project management, and planning skills and experienceUnderstanding of fundraising tools, strategies, and activitiesProven track record of excellent customer service and strong relationship buildingClear understanding of the core concepts of marketing and a high level of familiarity with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)Highly organized and detail-orientedHigh level of dependability and reliabilityExperience working with CRM databases or willingness and ability to learn new technologyAbility to work independently and collaboratively with staff team, community & business partners, board members, volunteers, and program participants in an evolving and growing organizationOpen to working approximately 5 Saturdays throughout the year and some evenings as needed, with advanced noticePreferred Knowledge and ExperiencePlanning and execution of nonprofit auctions and galasIndividual major gift solicitationsCrowdfunding campaignsExperience with the following software and applications is a plus:Salesforce, especially HandsOn Connect and Click & Pledge appsMicrosoft OfficeGoogle AppsDesign toolsGreater Giving event softwareBENEFITSThe starting salary is $50,000 per year.Seattle Works maintains a friendly and flexible work environment.
