General Summary:

The Customer Engineering team is involved in supporting, customizing, and optimizing Qualcomm software for AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), Audio, Camera, Display, Graphics, Video, and BSP on Qualcomm customer devices: XR (Mixed Reality), VR/AR, Tablets. The team also works to debug and resolve customer issues, train customers, and document software for the above technologies. The candidate is expected to work on internal development platforms such as the MTP, CDP, and external customer devices. The candidate should have strong C or C++ programming skills, experience with embedded software development, familiarity with the Linux Android environment, Android git process, and Android applications (APK). The candidate should be self-driven and will be required to drive tasks and work closely with various technology teams while engaged on customer issues, documentation, and training.

This role will be onsite in San Diego.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate should have knowledge in the following areas:

Camera, Display, AR/VR, Video, Graphics, BSP software

Experience in software design/debugging, problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills

Programming with real-time operating systems/microkernel in ARM or Qualcomm's Hexagon microprocessor.

Strong understanding of Computer Architecture - Caches, Bus, Memory is required.

C/C++ programming skills with a minimum of 1 - 5 years experience in Embedded Software Systems and creating or managing software build environment with: Make/cmake, Git, etc.

Physical Requirements:

Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Pay range:

$108,300.00 - $162,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
