Job Description
This position is within the Engineering Solutions Group at XP Power. Successful candidate will be responsible for designing custom power delivery products that includes AC/DC, DC/DC, high power, low power, high voltage, and low voltage switch mode power supplies. Design of AC/DC, DC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various topologies. Take products from concept to volume production while ensuring that it meets performance specifications, schedule, cost & reliability targets. Collaborate with the cross-functional team (PCB layout, Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Test and Quality engineering) to ensure that design meets all DfX requirements. Select raw materials, components and suppliers based on product performance specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements. Lead research and development activities of new technologies. Perform cost analysis and produce cost estimates for new design concepts. Attend customer calls to collect project requirements and provide design status updates. Act as a subject matter expert in peer reviews, provide feedback and guidance as needed. Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company procedures, safety, and other agency requirements. Perform circuit simulations, DFMEA, component stress analysis, reliability prediction calculations, Design Verification Testing and write technical reports. Prepare documentation for product release. Support RMA group with root causes analysis. Participate in the recruitment process. Mentor junior engineers. Perform other duties and responsibilities when required. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 15+ years of related experience. Master’s degree is preferred. Extensive experience in mixed signal circuit design, simulations, and test of power electronics. Experience working with magnetics and practical design of custom transformers and inductors. Experience designing EMC filters to meet regulatory compliance. In depth knowledge of power conversion principles, topologies, and technologies. HV and RF experience and/or knowledge is desirable. In depth understanding of control theory. Hands on design validation experience including impedance and loop phase/gain measurements, precision noise measurement, and load transient response. Must understand business strategies and have a high level of understanding for the business flow. Strong project management experience and supervisory skills. Ability to make economic judgments with respect to product cost and manufacturing process. Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Additional Information
