SUMMARY OF COMPANYSouthwest Shipyard, LP provides gas freeing and cleaning services, steaming, and flaring services, Barge and boat repair, Surface preparation and painting, water treatment and new construction services to the commercial and government marine industry. Southwest Shipyard owns and operates four (4) shipyards in South Texas with direct deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico. Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities are to perform welding and repair functions with following objectives:Grind barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas in preparation of welding.Weld barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas, and specialty components & areas with the required number passes to achieve full penetration welds.Operate welding & grinding equipment, vacuum pumps, air pumps, compressors, blowers, meters, hoses etc. to accomplish weld & repair duties.Duties:Cuts and welds steel plate to make the necessary repairs and/or alterations using welding equipment as directed by foreman or supervisorConsults with foreman or supervisor regarding installation or repair problems, sequence of operations, and time required to complete repair and/or installationPositions and/or secures blocking at bottom and sides of vessels according to size, weight, and weight distribution of vessels, using fasteners, hand tools, and power tools as necessaryMaintain a safe working environment and attend safety meetings as required.Performs other duties as assigned.Education, Experience and Training:Minimum one (1) experience in shipyard welding and repair operations.Be able to perform simple paper work as required for filling out forms and logs.Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Mandatory drug testing prior to employment, and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol tests during employment.Must be able to communicate and take directions from Foreman & Supervisor.Able to work without contact lenses.Required to arrive to work on time and also work overtime hours as required.Understand general policies and procedures as described in the quality & environmental manuals.Required to undergo a training program and participate in refresher training as needed.Physical/Environmental Requirements:Barge chemical environment. Requires prolonged kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry in access of 120 lbs, assisted.Ability to work in varied conditions (i.e.: heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.), inside and outside.Able to work in confined space, heights and

operate equipment efficiently and safely.
