Baylor College of Medicine and Department Summary:
Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is an internationally respected medical and research institution known for excellence in education, research, and patient care. For 2022, U.S. News & World Report ranked BCM as one of the top 25 medical schools for research.
Texas Children's Hospital is an internationally recognized full-care pediatric hospital located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The largest children's hospital in the U.S. and an Honor Roll children's hospital currently ranked #2 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report (USNWR), Texas Children's Hospital provides the finest possible pediatric patient care, education, and research.
The Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology service at Texas Children's Hospital, which is ranked #5 in the nation by USNWR, is currently staffed by over 35 providers with continued growth expected. We are a large clinical service with care delivery at multiple sites across the Houston Metropolitan area and Austin. We offer a full array of support services (e.g., social work, nutritional counseling, etc.) commensurate with that provided within a world-class children's hospital, supported by a stellar infrastructure to advance health care improvement.
Austin presents a clear and compelling opportunity to extend Texas Children's mission to a large and growing population of children and women where there is currently a deficiency of programmatically integrated healthcare. Our Urgent Care opened in March 2018, nine pediatric practices currently operate in the Austin area, and our first Specialty Care Center opened in October 2019. The Specialty Care Center is located at 8611 North Mopac Expressway, approximately 8 miles north of downtown Austin near Highway 183.
Our robust, outpatient-focused approach includes a plan for 18 pediatric practices, 4 urgent cares, 3 specialty care centers, and 2 maternal fetal medicine centers, all on 1 integrated medical record. Texas Children's plans also include a freestanding children and women's hospital expected to open in 2024. Texas Children's presence in Austin helps deliver regional coordination of care and is synergistic to the core services offered at our Texas Medical Center campus in Houston.
Summary
We seek to hire a Pediatric Endocrinologist at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor to join the Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology Section at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital for our Austin location. Our goal is to expand on our world-class clinical programs and allow children with diabetes and endocrine disorders to live long healthy lives. We emphasize thoughtful and empowering care of children with diabetes and endocrine disorders.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an M.D. degree (or equivalent) and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care, education, quality and safety, research, or administrative areas. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Endocrinology is required.
Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.
