Overview:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Sterile Processing Department. Plans and organizes all services and personnel in the sterile processing department, including coordination of processes and activities involved in the acquisition, decontamination, storage, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of medical, surgical and related supplies and materials and equipment utilized in the care and treatment of patients within the operation of the Sterile Processing Departments for the Moses H. Cone Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, and Women?s Hospital.
Responsibilities:
Ensures all sterilization processes and training of staff are in accordance with regulatory bodies: AORN, AAMI, IAHCSMM, APIC, OSHA, JCAHO.--------------------------------------------------Ensures cost effective utilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies. This includes monitoring of condition of instruments, repairs, timely replacement, and communications with staff and OR Leaders.--------------------------------------------------Manages staff relations including performance management, training, certification, staff satisfaction and conflict management. Manage various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and vacat--------------------------------------------------Oversees the accuracy and performance of key departmental information systems to collect and report data for Flash Rates, instrument distribution, repair, loss, and replacement. Ensures all staff receive appropriate training in use of all departmental in--------------------------------------------------Prioritize and expedite work flow while ensuring processes, inventory, equipment, training, and procedures are maintained to support the instrumentation and sterilization needs to exceed service and quality expectations as outlined by customer, physician,--------------------------------------------------Provide direction and coordination of staff and other activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations while maintaining a quality focus. Prepare and evaluate future scheduling projections, anticipating future workload requirement to for--------------------------------------------------
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required:Associate degree with significant directly related experience required.Preferred:Baccalaureate degree in healthcare related field.EXPERIENCE:
Required:Five years of experience in sterile processing, operating rooms, or similar setting. Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination and sterilization sciences, case cart systems, and medical/surgical supplies and equipment.Preferred:Two years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity within a high volume tertiary level hospital preferred.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIREDDrivers License | Valid Drivers LicenseRequired:Current certification as Sterile Processing Tech, Certified Surgical Tech, or Certified Nurse Operating Room required.
