Health & Safety Program Manager

Montgomery & Associates (M&A) is seeking a qualified professional to manage and enhance our Health and Safety (H&S) program. The hired professional would be based in Tucson, Arizona, our corporate headquarters. Our company of highly respected water resource professionals has been in business since 1984 and is growing, with recent expansions in the western U.S. and South America.

This role offers a challenging opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of scientists throughout our western U.S. and South American offices. The individual hired in this role will serve as our H&S single point of contact for our 100-person U.S. team and our 50-person South American team. The H&S manager will also oversee all H&S aspects of field programs for approximately 20 U.S. field scientists and 20 South American field scientists working at mine sites, industrial sites, in urban areas, and in remote back country areas.

Responsibilities

Manage and enhance our H&S program, in close coordination with senior managers and technical professionalsReinforce our commitment to a strong H&S cultureMaintain and update our internal H&S practices and documents, as necessaryManage compliance with client H&S requirementsManage H&S training including preparing and delivering training, scheduling third-party providers, tracking, and record keepingAssist project managers with H&S client submittals including H&S Plans and Job Hazard AnalysesAssist project managers with H&S aspects of field programs including pre-field inspections and checklists, monitoring weather conditions, and tracking status of employees working in remote areasConduct or coordinate field and office H&S inspections, field audits, and accident investigationsManage medical surveillance program and client-required drug & alcohol testingConduct or coordinate health & safety monitoring, as necessaryTrack H&S metrics; monitor H&S documentation, records, and trends; and manage regulatory and client H&S reportingAssist with management of company field vehicles and H&S equipmentComplete special H&S projects and other duties as requestedQualifications

Bachelor's or Technical Degree in occupational health, safety, or industrial hygiene; a science or engineering degree and relevant H&S experience will be considered10+ years of H&S experience, preferably with a consulting environmental or engineering firmCertification in one or more of the safety fields, including Certified Industrial Hygiene, Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, Construction Health and Safety Technician, or Safety Trained Supervisor; equivalent relevant experience will be consideredExperience with OSHA, MSHA, and ANSI regulatory standards and incident investigationsKnowledge of California OSHA and other California safety regulations is preferredAbility to travel for training and workshops in our western U.S. and possibly South American officesTeam-oriented with proven communication and organizational skillsExperience managing employees and promoting a safety cultureExperience with safety requirements for work with mechanically or electrically powered equipment (e.g., drill rigs); work in remote areas; environmental hazard exposure is preferredExperience with SiteDocs or similar online safety management systems, and third-party H&S platforms, such as Avetta and ISNetworld, is desiredValid driver's licenseSpanish language skills usefulThis is a full-time position to be performed during normal business hours with some after-hours and weekend work possible.
