DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose:

The incumbent shall perform routine maintenance work, such as greasing and lubrication routines, line inspections, perform preventative maintenance procedures from a checklist, perform basic troubleshooting, make adjustments and replacement of parts on equipment

The incumbent must have his own personal hand tools and be familiar with all basic tools of various trades, including some power tools

Must be able to maintain records and make reports as required

The incumbent shall exercise good judgement in regard to quality, safety, and the security of the plant facilities, as well as maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work environment

Must have good interpersonal skills and good communication skills, both orally and written

As a maintenance employee, the incumbent will be required to work in all areas of the facility, indoors & outdoors, under adverse conditions

The environment ranges from below 0o F to above 100o F, wet, humid, confined spaces and unique situations

In addition, the incumbent must be able to lift 50 pounds, be agile for confined space work and be able to climb ladders.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

ADVANCEMENT:

Minimum of 6 months as B & R Technician III.

Supports of the TQM philosophy.

Demonstrate good, reliable work ethics, perform quality work, and maintain good working relationships with this and all other departments.

Demonstrate skill and ability in requirements for Technician II.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Maintain equipment in assigned area of responsibility to maximize uptime.

Work with production to ensure all quality standards are met.

Work with production to ensure all expected production volumes are met.

Perform preventative maintenance as assigned.

Fill out all assigned paperwork and reports.

Investigate and correct equipment problems.

Ensure a safe and sanitary work environment at all times.

Report all equipment failures or non-conformances when found.

ELECTRICAL/TECHNICAL SKILL BASE REQUIREMENTS:

Have a working knowledge of PLC’s.

Understand and apply NEC guidelines.

Perform electrical installations, including conduct, panels, and wiring.

Have working knowledge of instrumentation.

Perform electrical systems troubleshooting.

MECHANICAL SKILL BASE REQUIREMENTS:

Perform minor welding.

Perform minor fabrication and machining.

Perform basic electrical troubleshooting.

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems.

Basic hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge.

Have a basic understanding of refrigeration systems.

Expected Experience & Required Skills:

One or more of the following requirements should be met to qualify for this job.

A diploma from Garden City Community College for Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Operator 1 or 2.

Completion of at least 1000 hours training in Air Condition, Refrigeration, and Heating Technology program at a certified vocational technical center.

A diploma from R.E.T.A

for an Industrial Ammonia Plant Operator.

At least five years on the job training operating industrial ammonia refrigeration plant.

Lube all operating line equipment as directed.

Perform minor preventative maintenance as directed.

Record all equipment failures when found.

Fill out time reports as required.

Perform and understand all boiler house and facility rounds, checks and log readings.

Perform basic boiler and refrigeration systems operations.

Perform basic electrical troubleshooting such as fuse and continuity checks.

Perform proper and safe use of tools and machines.

Practice ammonia and steam safety, including the use of S.C.B.A

and safety equipment.

Demonstrate an understanding of steam principles and facility stream system with the ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, and piping.

Demonstrate an understanding of refrigeration principles and facility refrigeration system with the ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, and piping.

Demonstrate a general knowledge of the plant air system, water system, waste treatment system, and Fire system.
