Job Details:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team. This is a permanent, hybrid position that allows for a flexible combination of in-office and remote work. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all aspects of our financial operations, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, non-profit regulations, and internal controls. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in financial and management accounting to contribute to our organization's financial health and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

As an Accounting Manager, you will:

  1. Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  2. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, accounts receivable are collected promptly, and periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
  3. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system, chart of accounts, and a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  4. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report and recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance.
  5. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, calculate variances from the budget, and report significant issues to management.
  6. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  7. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  8. Develop and implement effective internal controls to enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master's degree or CPA certification is highly desirable.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  3. Proven experience in both financial and management accounting.
  4. Solid understanding and experience with non-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  5. Comprehensive knowledge of internal controls and risk management.
  6. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  7. Superior analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to make effective decisions based on data.
  8. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.
  9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial personnel.
